This guide offers project ideas, certification requirements, and best practices for empowering students to tackle global challenges through the lens of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Welcome back to Class2Class.org, where our 4-level learning journey continues to guide your collaborative projects. If you’ve successfully completed a Level 1 project, congratulations! You’re now ready to move on to Level 2, “Work Towards the SDGs.” For a comprehensive overview of all four levels, check out our article “Steps to Start Your First International Collaboration Project”

Level 2: “Work Towards the SDGs”

After completing a Level 1 project, Level 2 is the natural next step in your collaborative journey. Level 1 focused on building relationships and cultural exchange, while Level 2 aims to:

  • Inspire students to work with international peers on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • Participate in projects that promote a more sustainable future.
  • Encourage in-depth discussions and multi-session analysis of chosen SDG topics.

By engaging in Level 2 collaborations, your students will actively contribute to a more sustainable future while developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and global citizenship skills.

Topic Ideas for Level 2 Collaboration

There are 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations – these ambitious targets aim to create a better, more sustainable future for all. And here’s the exciting part – your students can be part of this global movement! To spark their interest and empathy, we’ve put together a list of project ideas that align with the most popular SDGs in education:

SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being

  • Exercise and Wellness Routines: Exchange physical fitness routines for home or school, incorporating traditional exercises from each country.
  • Mental Health Awareness Campaign: Create a joint campaign to raise awareness about mental health and share coping strategies.
  • Nutrition Across Cultures: Explore and compare nutritional practices and their impact on health in different countries.

SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities

  • Accessibility in Education: Showcase and discuss solutions for making education accessible to students with disabilities.
  • Women and Girls in STEM: Highlight the importance of promoting women’s and girls’ participation in STEM fields.
  • Indigenous Rights and Voices: Share stories and challenges of indigenous communities, fostering awareness and respect for their rights and cultures.

SDG 13: Climate Action

  • Local Climate Heroes: Research and present on individuals or groups taking action against climate change in each country.
  • Biodiversity Exchange Project: Share information about unique ecosystems and species, emphasizing the importance of biodiversity protection.
  • Sustainable Living Practices: Exchange ideas and practices for sustainable living, including waste reduction, recycling, and sustainable agriculture.
